2017 is an exciting year for me.  There is a lot going on in many areas of my life.  My first big adventure has been starting to work as an audiobook narrator.  I have worked in radio, TV & film since I was 5 years old.  And for years, many people have been saying that I have a great voice for voice work.  I just never knew how to get started.

As I was researching, thinking and praying for ways to make money that were not location dependent (i.e. going to the office every day), the idea again came to me to try audiobook narration. Since the last time I looked into it, Amazon has launch an exchange for authors and narrators to find each other.  ACX.com is how I got started.  It was free to set up my narrator account, load up some samples of my work and start auditioning.  As an actor, I know that lots of auditions are what’s needed for steady work.  So my first couple of days I auditioned for as many books as I could.  And I landed a few contracts right away!  Then I had to get about the business of learning how to deliver on the technical side of things.

The learning curve was steep and I still have more I need to learn.  But I was able to complete my first audiobook in under a month from start to finish!  It has some mistakes in it, I realize now, but I am still proud of my first effort.  You can check it out here:

In the next few months, I will let you know about additional projects that are happening.  I love narrating books and hope to continue to do it for many years to come.  As we get ready to hit the road, I will be learning about the challenges of recording while traveling.  And I will share my experiences with you here.
